Students play an active role in the classroom

Center classes are interactive. Below, students are seen holding press conferences, impersonating historical figures and engaging in discussions to explore studied material.

  • A group of students gather in a classroom, with two students lifted onto others' shoulders.
  • Students collaborate around a table, working on a large yellow poster together.
  • A group of students smiling and posing together in a brightly lit classroom.
  • A group of students pose in a classroom, with some dressed in character for a historical presentation.

The application of Center curriculum

As students progress in the Center, they will be given the opportunity to give their own TED talks, host booths at the GAHS Homecoming Fair and Happiness Summit, participate in a national academic competition and a multitude of other projects. These activities allow students to apply what they learn in the classroom when solving practical problems.

  • A large group of smiling young adults pose together outdoors on a brick patio in front of a building.
  • Three young people staff a vibrant food booth named 'Auntie Grumbin's Slider Shack' under a yellow and gray tent.
  • Three people stand behind a table with a 'Laugh & Play' sign in a library.
  • A large, smiling group of young adults and a few adults pose for a photo in front of a banner that reads "CIVICS" while holding up medals and a framed certificate.
